Hi Joseph,

I think you might be confusing cookies with temporary Internet files.  A
large accumulation of the latter could slow your system's performance,
but cookies take up so little space that I doubt their presence would
affect anything.

This is Joseph. A cookie is an Internet terminology used for a file that
websites uses to browse the Internet e.g. they store user settings for
that specific website, etc. Over the ages, these files can slow down the
overall performance of the computer. So it is advised that you delete
these files periodically to optimize performance and to free disk space.
BN follows this rule as well. I hope this information may help you.
