HI KC, No, it's not at all redundant. I, too, have a transplant, but I have seen a brand new regular mPower, and they are identical except for the Braille display. The only thing you left out of your description is the infra red port, located to the right of the phone jack. It is very smooth, so harder to find than a regular port. The two slots or ports to the left of the CF card slot are the SD card slot and the mini USB port. The SD slot is nearest the underside of the machine, while the USB port is almost in the middle of the panel, from top to bottom. The headphone jack is on the left side of the machine, between the reset button and the record button.
I hope this clears things up for you. Truthfully, I don't know if it is the same as the bonafide M-Power. This is how the back panel loks. Going from right to left: A jack for phone line; 2 USB ports (I could be wrong!) a serial port; a flash card slot. Next, there is a very narrow slot near the bottom with a smaller one above it. (I'm guessing that is for earphones.) the far left is the plug for the ac adapter. What I find strange, is that there is no description of the back pane in the BRAILLE NOTE QT GETTING STARTED GUIDE. I just looked again, and it talks about the headphones being in back. (Since I don't use them, I did't pay attention!) Sarah,I apologize if this is all redundant!
