Hi Jean,
I think I'd get the Linksys router if I were starting all over again. It
is readily available in most electronics stores including radio
shack. Most computer people can help you set the network up for your
computer. Once that is done, we can help you get your BN or M-power or PK
going. I think the card is called the Sandisk Wi Fi 500 or something like
that. It doubles as a network card and flash card. I got mine through
Humanware. I may have paid more for it, but I got it in a matter of days
and it works just fine. I think persons as Don Bishop and Jeff Mozo would
be of help when setting up a network. You'd need to check with either of
them but then if I had to get help setting up a network from scratch, I'd
knock on their doors if I couldn't get help locally (grin smile)! I can
say once everything is in place, it is a snap and it works so nicely! I
wouldn't want to be without wireless internet or web.

Hi Jim
Thanks. So, Sandisk what? And does it really matter what router you get
for a home networking system? I know enough to match it up with our
computer operating system and type of Internet connection, but I have no
intention of becoming a techno guru just to sort this out. Honestly, I
doubt I'll do anything until the spring for many reasons which I won't go into.
But thanks for the card info. I'm just trying to have an up to date list
for when I decide to actually purchase.

I think the ambicom card is still out there but I switched to the Sandisk
Wi Fi card and it is also a 128 meg flash card. It is two cards in
one. I recommend it highly! I'm getting a more dependable connection with it.

I'm back on the list for a bit.
I still haven't purchased a wireless card for my mPower, but my dealer
tells me that the Ambicom card is no longer available. Does this mean
that the only card now supported is the Sandisk?
I won't pretend to know anything technical here, but I do find it odd
that a brand new device should have such hardware restrictions. It
seems that the mPower is now dependent on whether a third-party card
remains in the market. If not, then where do we go?
I saw a message in the archives where Dean said he would be compiling
resource info for the mPower. This is long overdue and I wish it had
been available on the website as the new machine hit the market. It's
very frustrating trying to figure out what third-party cards, etc. will
work and are recommended. I know everyone keeps saying what works with
the older BrailleNote products, but it's hard to find anything specified
for the new technology. And as I said, now that I hear Ambicom is not
supplying the Ambicom card everyone recommends, what next?
