Okay, First of all, make sure your receiver under GPS options is set
correctly, i.e. if your using a Magellan, set the receiver type to m
Second, make sure your GPS is looking for the Poi's and Maps in the
right place, I.e. if they're on the compact flash card, make sure your
GPS is set to look for them under compact flash/poi or compact
flash/maps this is set under gps options. A third thing, make sure
you've put the actual POI and Map files in the folders and not the
folders with in a folder, I.E. Copy the Alabama.poi in to the POI folder
on your compact flash card POI folder and not copy the Alabama folder
from the CD in to the POI Folder of your Compact flash card. This should
fix your problems.

Hi all
I have recently downloaded and installed the braillenote demo of GPS
3.3. I
have the maps, and receiver from 2.0 however, when I go to start GPS, I
get
the following. Can not open POI for, and it lists all the states. Then
it
tells me "no fix, acquiring fix" and nothing happens from that point.
Any
suggestions?

Hi Sarai,

Now, Sarai, you should know better than to cry "fire" in a crowded
theater. With information like you've just posted here, I firmly
believe that it is up to Sendero or to Humanware to give us the
specifics on this problem. You've given us just enough info so that
someone who isn't thoughtful will get all bent out of shape over this.

Please, please, when posting info like this, be very sure to be
accurate in what you are posting!

Here is a list of really pertinent questions that you should have
included in your alarmist post.

1. Which version of the GPS software are we talking about here?

2. Which version of Keysoft are we talking about here?

3. Which model of the BrailleNote are we talking about?

4. Does this apply only to GPS files or to others as well?

5. What conditions precipitate this problem?

6. If it's been noticed in the past three weeks, can one assume that
this applies to 3.3, the MPower, both, neither, or what?

<grrrrr> This is so aggravating, and it is so frustrating!

Ann P.
