Jeff. We have the same router. He did reset using a stylus like you said.
I'll try the steps later and get back to you about the security. Thanks.

Subject: RE: [BrailleNote] wireless connection not found?

Hello Jennifer:

OK, I can be of more help here. I also have a Linksys router and am very
familiar with its security. Now, just to make sure that we're not dealing
with apples and oranges here, I have to ask what will probably sound like a
dumb question, so please don't be offended. What type of Linksys router do
you have?? I'm using a Linksys WRT54g and it has two little rabbit ear
antennas sticking off the back. I promise I'm not asking this to be
condescending, but I just want to make sure we're dealing with a wireless
router. Linksys DOES make many wired only varieties.

To make sure that the router has been set back to factory specs, i.e. no
security in place, your husband should have "Reset" the router. To do this,
with the router turned on, take a pen or Braille Stylus and push in on the
reset button on the back of the router. This button is inset and is
probably located right next to the power port. It will feel like a little
round hole and when you push in on it with the pen, you'll feel a button
depress. Hold in the button for a full 30 seconds, and release. If you or
your husband didn't do this kind of reset, then there may still be some
kind of security or other issues in place.

Now, , with no security in place, you should be able to scan for and
attach to the router. In looking back at your posts to the list, I see you
were having trouble getting your BrailleNote to recognize the wireless card.
I assume that this problem has now been solved and that you are using
Keysoft 6.11 or above. First, make sure that wireless is turned on. I
have an MPower QT and can't give you the precise keystrokes in BT format,
but if you'll do a search through this list's archives, you should find it,
or it is definitely in the manual. Now scan for available wireless
connections. If your in a house, you shouldn't see much. IF, like me, your
in an apartment complex, you might find a few. Go down through the list and
select your router which will probably say "Linksys". You will then be
given a list of things to fill in about the router. Once you've named this
connection, you can probably leave most of them the same as long as security
is not enabled.

Once you've established that your BrailleNote can attach to your router, I
do VERY HIGHLY recommend that you enable some kind of security on the
router to protect your data and your network. Once you get to this stage,
I'd be happy to talk you through the steps of setting up the security.
It's really simple.

hth
Jeff
