Hi again, Patty,

In case it's helpful, and I'm assuming it's the same, I thought I should describe it a bit better. You use the Next thumb key to speed it up witch in the standard thumb key layout is the far right thumb key. The one you were pushing is the Advance thumb key which simply advances the display but doesn't change the speed of the automatic setting. To slow the speed down, you use the Back thumb key which is the very far left one. To cancel out of auto advancement, press the Back and Next keys together. Those are the very left and very right ones. Note that if you are reading with auto advance turned on and you just need to review the line a bit because you maybe missed the last word, you can press the previous thumb key which is second from the left and it will just pop back one display but still keep the auto advance active. That's handy sometimes. You can also still use the Advance thumb key to jump ahead one display, but that won't effect the reading speed. That's the key I think you were pressing.

Jean

Hi Jean, I have 5.1, and I'm pushing the second thumb key from the right. I've pushed it repeatedly, but it goes a little faster, but not much. I
tried just holding it down, and nothing happens then. Patti

Do you still have your thumb keys in the standard configuration? In
other words, it's a stupid question, but are you using the right thumb
key to increase the speed? I know mine will go up to a speed that is
just wiggly dots coming and going and no one could ever read anything
that fast. LOL.

I do have the mPower, so maybe the speed might be different? I don't
know.

If you keep tapping the "next" Key once scrolling, you should be able
to get it to go faster than anybody could possibly read. If it
doesn't, try repeatedly tapping each of the other keys in case a
different key was set for the next function. Good luck.
