Hi Lisa,
I've used the exercise the Braille display feature on occasion. It hasn't
broken my display. I don't know if it's fixed it necessarily either. If it
did break it, however, I'd argue that if the exercise feature did it, then
it was the manufacturer's fault for including that feature.

If Humanware really does discourage the use of that feature, which they've
built in to their product, then maybe they should make it inaccessible, or
put in an explicit warning so that we don't get ourselves in to trouble.
I'm guessing it isn't something you should just do for fun, but I doubt
you'll hurt your display by running that feature for a short period of time,
maybe thirty seconds or a minute.

If I'm wrong, Dean or Jonathan, please speak up and let us all know.

Thanks!
Rusty

all viewpoints on this as I've just asked a question that needed some sort

Kathy,
Humanware frowns upon exercising the display. that said it will do this
until the battery goes flat or until the display breaks. this is why
Humanware frowns upon this technique. I have never exercised my displays
on the braillenote or otherwise and I use them extensively! I leave this
kind of thing up to the professional. I can assure you that if you break
this display by trying to self-repair, it is going to take a long, long
time to get it fixed properly. It's your choice.
