Actually, if you had the product key for each machine, you could do it.
You can if you take the correct steps upgrade more than one machine with
the same software.  I don't want to bore with the details, but I've seen
it done.

You may be right, unfortunately, it would be kind of hard to test this
one.  I think the only way one might know is to use the same software to
upgrade a different machine.
You always have to attempt to duplicate conditions exactly in order to
isolate a given problem.

Why should the first step be to send the unit back? Couldn't he have
gotten a bad copy of the new program? Maybe another copy should be sent
out before the unit is rushed back.  In addition, if such a disk were
sent out, there shouldn't be a charge.  After all, if that reset problem
is being caused by the new program, then shouldn't this list be swamped
with complaints? Just my thoughts.
