Hi Joseph;
Thanks for your message. I sure never knew you could do something like that
with a computer. I don't think it would work with me, because I have tunnel
vision and have a very small field of vision. The way I describe it is, a
quick motion of the eyes to put a picture together. I used to have 20/4000,
but they can not even measure it any more, but I can still can read my own
jumbo print. I am exsighted about the recording feature because I am trying to
use print, less and less. I know my sight is getting worse and I have accepted
it and am trying to adapt to it before the shock comes.
As you most likely know, I also have epelepsi and a mild hearing problem. I
use an amplifier on my phone and a head set that connects my phone and computer
and also has a volume. It has a mouth piece and is great.

Terry,

The secret is that I don't watch TV on a TV. I watch it on my computer's
20" LCD screen, at a distance of mere inches. Most of the detail of the
program such as the park's landscaping was observed magnified over even
that because I needed to zoom in on the little numbers giving me minutes,
seconds, and hundredths of a second as I was splicing the video together.
The slider happened to be at the bottom of the video window, so the video
itself was zoomed in very large just above the controls I was fiddling
with.

I do rate the (in my opinion somewhat offensive) label of "high partial".
My vision is about 20/310, but it's also true that like most albinos I am
light sensitive and nearsighted, the latter being largely unfixable due to
complications of the former (such as uncontrolled eye movement..) That
means in a dark room I can see things pretty well, but take me out in the
sunlight and I can't see a thing.

Most albinos try to figure out how to get the most out of their vision and
do not even carry a cane. At 12, I had the good sense to ask for one
since i couldn't see what I was doing in the sunlight. At 14 they gave me
some lessons in the "proper" usage of a cane (useless I tell you!), and I
went through periods after that where I did and did not carry a cane to
avoid drawing too much attention to myself.

I'm 27 now. I've got scars on my calves from not using a cane when I
should have, and today I carry a cane. When I was little, authority
figures told me when I was and was not allowed to use my cane. That was
especially true after an incident for which I am not especially proud. At
the time, I didn't feel I had the power to tell them that I would not be
denied my cane.

Today, I don't feel I have that power. I know I have that power. They
will take my cane when they pry it from my cold dead hands.
