Hello Carol,

I stand by what I said! I wouldn't be surprised if you have a faulty battery. I'd be inclined to blame the battery for your troubles.

There are times I get that inaccurate battery message where it says I can't get an accurate reading on how the battery percentage charge is. If I get that, I exit out of the message and enter the percentage command again. I always get a percentage reading on the battery even if it doesn't give me the percentage the first time around. I do agree though if you hear a battery low message, you'd better plug it in! One doesn't hear that message but once or if you are lucky twice before the battery may go completely. I'm observing both my wife's unit and mine. They both are acting much the same way. I find I get that full charge in two hours at least! The more I use the battery, the better the system seems to work and it is more consistent as well, at least, it has been so on our two units. If you aren't getting this consistency, I'd suspect the battery is the problem! I would agree about the few bad batteries! Perhaps you got two of them already! I'm sorry this has happened to you but you should have a better idea of how it should be from units like mine which are working as they should.

Jim,

I respect that this is your experience but it is not mine! Some people
(I am told this is just a few) have units with a battery that won't
calibrate, does not give an accurate reading, crashes out after the
"Battery Low", never gets to the critical stage and has been through a
proper remit of regular work and then, in desperation, the calibration
saga . . ..

I've done it . . . the machine was returned and now I've done it again!
*STILL NO GO!* Please know that we are using our mPower every day. It
is for this reason that it's so frustrating. We can't trust the battery
because we never know when it's going to go down - so what if we're in
the middle of important recordings, copying databases, getting email,
etc., etc? We currently put off some of the things like this because we
have no accurate battery reading!

I now do not know what to do and am currently waiting for further help.

Hello!

The battery calibration isn't such a big deal really in the M-power. If

one takes the battery to zero percent, one simply leaves it plugged in
till
the unit reaches a hundred percent. Should I check my BN after two
hours
and it is shoing 80 to 90 percent or slightly better than that charged,
I
unplug the AC adapter and immediately plug it back in again and let it
go
for another two or more hours. I have left my unit charging for almost
eight hours but this is very rare indeed. They say the unit is charging
as
well as calibrating the battery gage. I'm noticing that my unit says
gage
is accurate plus or minus two percent. Since I have been using my BN on
a
regular basis and there isn't a day that goes by when the BN isn't being

used for something, I'm finding that I can check what percentage is left

while running the media player or about to work on some other project.
I
usually plug in my unit around ten percent. Sometimes it is less than
that
maybe 8 percent. I'm finding I reach a hundred percent charge in two
hours
on a regular basis. Getting that new dorment battery working may be the

problem at first but when habits of use are established, the battery
will
work and charge properly. I have always maintained that the battery
will
remain calibrated as long as your BN is being used on a regular basis!
I
say use the heck out of your BN and you should be fine when it comes to
use
and calibration of the battery in your unit. I feel one rarely needs to

use that I'm talking till my battery goes flat feature.

As for Email, it is truly fast in the M-power! I have downloaded 300 or

more messages in three minutes or less. There are times when the Email
process might be aborted so it is good to monitor what's going on when
downloading Email. This doesn't take long at all! You really shouldn't

need to worry about downloading Email or calibrating the battery if
everything is operating properly!
