I feel the same way. I like to read with the display, but when I'm busy, or at night when I read to go to sleep, i can use the speech instead. i will probably always prefer human voice recordings of audio books, but to be able to read web braille is still so amazing to me. and of course, once i get my CD books converted to MP3 files, I can play those on the BN as well.

Obviously, he does pronounce some of the names strangely, but, I have kept up on the story line. I was tempted to buy the audio of this last one but now that I have read it I won't because I would not really enjoy it now that I know what happens, which I might add was not such a surprise to me. One thing I just love about the Braille Note is I can use the display when reading aloud would be problematic, but I can listen too, and while listening if something needs a touch all I have to do is stop and read the lines for the spelling of a name or a word that isn't quite sounding like it should. When I read on tape sometimes I wish I could stop for the spelling of a word, a character's name that sounds one way but in reality may not be etc. I like the idea that I am not tied to the display but it is there when I want or need it, I don't take in technical stuff well hearing it, but a novel, well I am impatient , want to know what is going to happen to fast to want to spend all the time on the display, so the voice is nice too. However, when I am on a bus, plane, in a crowd, or something I most definitely use the display, first because it is a way to keep the public aware of braille, secondly because with my hearing loss I can not hear well in those situations. Thanks for letting me have the chose to use what fits my situation. Sigh. -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Rose Combs Sent: Friday, July 22, 2005 4:46 PM To: 'Braillenote List' Subject: RE: [Braillenote] harry potter My take is that I was not ever going to read Harry Potter, figured it was for children. However, a co-worker spend a lunch hour telling me about the first four books. I came home, downloaded the first one from Web Braille, started reading and then got the other four. In some ways, I probably did read better fantasy, but for some reason you just get hooked on the characters. I sure did, and I got the book from bookshare Sunday, read it, and in some ways I wondered why I was reading, but then I could not read another book until I finished it, and considering I generally have at least three books I am reading at any given time, that is unusual. Now it is back to the real world for a while, and wondering what in the world book seven could be about if there may be no more Hogswart Apparently book seven is already written or so I have heard. school. I'm currently reading book 4, and yes, they're cute, and yes, they're English and somewhat witty, but I've read far better fantasy, and far better kids books. But hey, taste is subjective, and obviously I am in the minority on this one.
