Karen, I'm on the case, sort of . . ..
I spent some of this afternoon making some .URL shortcut files which certainly have speeded up the process of getting into that folder. I found that I did get in, after several minutes. Weird, somehow I was able to give the mPower a big of a "chug", "kick start" by asking the time or date, just to get things moving when it seemed I was getting nowhere. Perhaps this was my imagination, but, once I'd got the time or date things seemed to quicken up. All of a sudden I would find the list of files was opened, though that prompt and first filename wasn't spoken which confused me a little at first. I haven't tried the network card thing yet, but I will be doing so in the next couple of days. I'm wondering if there are some sneaky hidden shortcuts for files which you may be able to use, to adopt the format, to do something along the lines I'm doing with the .URL files. I'm curious to know whether, for example, those files pointed to after use may have shortcuts somewhere. Must get ActiveSync on the job and see if I can explore those folders a little more. Now, if anyone thinks I'm not making much sense here then don't worry; I can take it off list with Karen if easier . . . but if anyone has something to offer on this one then please let's have it. Finally, I do seem to have made considerable progress on this today so I'm very pleased! I trust, Karen, that you'll be able to do the same. -- Carol [EMAIL PROTECTED] -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Karen McDonald Sent: Thursday, November 10, 2005 6:42 PM To: Braillenote List Subject: Re: [Braillenote] STRANGE MPOWER QUIRKS Kylee, the point isn't that I can't open the file. First, I don't want to have to use a computer to do that. That defeats the purpose of portability. The issue is the fact that the network card seems to make a difference in the speed at which the list of files is shown.
