Hello,
I am going to tell you what the problem is, and then I will leave this alone, Yes, the flash disk has a total of 128 mb of space, of that, you actually only have between 118 and 120 mb of space because the formatting is taking up the other mb's, of that, you actually have approximately 108 to 114 mb of free space. Yes, this would be enough space for the typical download, but in all actuality, what happens is that when you download a e-mail, attachment, or mp3 or whatever else you are downloading, a image is first downloaded to the keysoft system disk in your temporary files, and then the actual download is performed on the flash disk. The keysoft system disk has 33 mb of rom, and of that you have between 25 and 30 mb actually free. So now, I think the numbers speak for themselves, and this is why, I say it would be nice to have the image of the download to a compactflash card.
I hope this information helps.
Robert

Hi Sarah and List,

The mPower only gives one the choice of saving the email and
attachments to the Flash Disk. The PK allows one to save them to
a
compact flash card. I really can't imagine any attachment where
one
would need more than the 128 megs that is available on the Flash
Disk. I am fairly confident that the problem has not been
accurately diagnosed.

I was under the impression that one was able to download files to
any storage option on the BN, thus bypassing the system disk.
Is
this not true for Email attachments, are they handled in a
different manner?

Hello Dean,
I thought it might require a hardware upgrade, so I am wondering,
would it be possible, to give the user the option of where they
would have the origional image of the download to? Such as giving
the user the option of downloading to a compactflash card, this
could allow for one to download as large a e-mail as their
compactflash card is free.
I hope this is considered for a future upgrade, since it would
allow those who do not have the means for a computer, and a
braillenote, to download larger files. I have mentioned this
once before, but I have been told that the flashouldisk has 128
mb of space so that is efficient, but as I have learned, it isn't
about how much room is on the flashouldisk, it is how much space
is on the disk where the image is first downloaded to.
So this would greatly enhance the use of the e-mail program.
Thanks again,
Robert

Hello Robert,

While it might be possible to increase the size of attachments
that can be
downloaded in a future release of KeySoft, increasing the size of
the
KeySoft system disk would require a hardware upgrade.

Thank you for your feedback on this matter.

Hello Jonathan and list,
I first want to say that I am really enjoying the upgrade and
have already created a database and have played with the fm
radio
quite a bit.
Though I think the current version of ks is great, I would like
to see you increase the size of the Keysoft System Disk.
I am not sure if this would be a hardware upgrade or not, but I
have found, that there are attachments and other such items that
will not download on the braillenote, and for some, this is
their
only means of using a computer, for they can't aford a pc.
The reason I say this, is that the keysoft system disk at least
on my unit, is only 32 mb large, and when you download a
attachment, or whatever else, such as a mp3 file, it first is
loading a image on the ks system disk, and if it is larger than
32 mb or whatever size is free on your system, then you cannot
download this e-mail and attachment, and I think that this
should
really be looked into for a future release.
Thanks, and I will continue to play with the new features of ks
7.
Robert
