This is Joseph. Make sure you shut down JAWS before
starting Braille terminal on your BrailleNote. To do
this:
1. If you are running JAWS press insert+F4. JAWS will
prompt, "quit JAWS dialog. Are you sure you want to
quit JAWS?" Press enter to turn off JAWS.
2. Connect the serial cable between BrailleNote and
the computer.
3. Turn on your BrailleNote and from Main Menu, press
T to select Braille terminal.
4. On your computer, press windows key+R to open Run
dialog. On the Run dialog, type jaws7 and press enter.
JAWS should start and the braille display on your
BrailleNote will go blank. After JAWS has started
BrailleNote will display whatever is on focus (for
example, if you are focused on Desktop and you are at
the My Computer, braille display might display
something like: desktop lv My Computer 2 of 20.)
For your information: JAWS can display the screen in
one of four ways:
structured: the information relating to the current
item e.g. check box, radio button, list view, etc.
Line: the current line as it appears on the screen is
displayed.
Speech history: the information spoken by JAWS will
appear exactly as it is spoken.
Attributes: the attribute e.g. underline, normal text,
boldface, etc. will be presented.
I hope this information may help you.
p.s. don't forget to disconnect the cable when you are
done.
