Hi Scott,

The BrailleNote only shows up as a serial bluetooth device when you go into terminal mode and choose bluetooth as your port. You will probably have to set your virtual bluetooth com port to nine or lower before it will work.

At any rate, if it is currently set to 14, tell Window-Eyes to use the BrailleNote with keyboard input as your braille display and set it to use com 14. Then put the BrailleNote into terminal mode. Then close and restart Window-Eyes while the BrailleNote is still sitting in terminal mode. When Window-eyes comes back up, you should have braille working on the display. Let me know how it goes.

Subject: RE: [Braillenote] Using BN as Braille display via
Bluetooth

Good morning Robert.

Yes, I am using Window-Eyes. If you have any comments/insights,
I would be
more than happy to hear them.

My situation is the following:
I do not have ActiveSync working yet because my Bluetooth cereal
port is set
to 14 and I so far have been unable to change it to anything
lower than
that, and according to Dean Jackson, ActiveSync will only use
ports less
than 10.
So, I may have to fix that first.

What is happening:
On my Computer, I have told Window-Eyes to use the BrailleNote as
the
Braille display and use com-14 (the Bluetooth cereal port).
I can get the BN and computer paired by activating ActiveSync.
When I try going to the BrailleTerminal, and selecting Bluetooth,
it tells
me "cereal port not available"

Now, for an interesting experiment:
I tried activating the modem Bluetooth profile on the BN.
Next on the BN I went to BrailleTerminal and said to use
Bluetooth.
The BN connected to the computer just fine.
Of course, it did not work as a Braille display, but it did
connect.

I hope my rambling made some since <grin

Thanks for any help.

Scott

Hi Scott,

I have the BrailleNote working as a braille display with
Window-Eyes.
If you are using Window-Eyes, I might be able to help. If you
are
using jaws, I am afraid you will have to try someone else.

Hi all!

Has anyone tried using there mPower as a Braille display via
Bluetooth? I
am unable to get this working and can not find anything about it
in the
manual.

Now, I should say that I still don't have ActiveSync working
either, and it
is possible that I have to fix that first. Dean Jackson told me
what my
problem is with ActiveSync, but I have been unable to correct it
yet.

I would like to read up on the Braille terminal mode, but as I
said, I am
unable to find it in the manual. If anyone can point me to the
right
chapter and/or provide other information, I would appreciate it.

Thanks!

Scott
