I wish the braille note could play OGG files because that is what most of my
music collection is in. the LAME MP3 encoder, which is the only free one is
just that, LAME. <grin> I hink the fact that we are using a Windows CE device
with the media functions basically provided by an underlying version of
Microsoft's media player is to blame for not playing these files. Actually,
nothing I have found besides winamp plays OGG files, so lack of support for
them didn't shock me a bit.

People are asking for MP3 or other compressed file encoding for the
BrailleNote. I don't mean to be totally insulting, but you people are crazy!
:-) Do you have any clue at all how processor intensive that is? I would say,
obviously not, because it simply is not practical on a BrailleNote and it won't
be for years. Actually recording in one of those compressed formats is even
more crazy, since that would mean that it would need to encode as fast as the
sound came in. I think my 1 Ghz computer might just be able to do that, but
I'm not sure. It probably matters what encoder it is using. Uncompressing to
play MP3s takes much less work, because that is how those files were designed.

Go ahead and suggest things, but you should also ask what is possible and what
is not, because some things just aren't practical. I don't expect everyone to
know that, but then you have to realize that there might be reasons you aren't
aware of. :-)
