Grammar checks is ok If it is used. Look at how many errors are on some websites and they're not using a BN? What's their excuse! I believe even If grammar check was added to the BN, many people will take the lazy way out and not bother to take the time to use grammarcheck. A well written document takes organization and proffreading before it is presented regardless as to the format. Now some people want to add such programs was grammar checkto the BN? Such programs as Spell check aren't commonly used what makes anyone think that grammarcheck will be aggressively used! Don't miss understand me, I definitely agree that we should have grammarcheck on the BN but how widely used will it be used and will it be worth the company's time and effor to do whatever they have to do to make it a doable thing. Thanks for letting me spout off. ----- Original Message -----

Hi, Lindsay

I agree re the reasons for using a spell checker. However, I
think a spot
of proof-reading before hitting the "send" button also goes a
long way. I
know people are busy and there's a lot of mail to deal with, but
it makes
for easier screen-reading. I also see it as a matter of
courtesy.

Cheers

Hi Kylee,

As a person who loves grammar, I agree with you that people
shouldn't rely
on their computers to fix grammatical errors which they should
learn how
to
do in there brains. Actually, I don't often find need for a
grammar check
for this purpose, but mainly for when I spell check Braille
documents. I
don't know if this is the case for others on this list, but I
mainly use
the
spellchecker to check for typos rather than to detect misspelled
words.
Sometimes while writing in Braille documents I will make typos
which
result
in a real word, but not the one I intended to write. In such
cases the
Braille word will go undetected by a spellchecker but not fit
properly in
the sentence. A grammar check would be able to detect such
errors which
the
spellchecker will miss. Luckily when I receive my new mPower qt
this
problem
will disappear or occur far less often. Part of the reason for
this
problem
was that I type far more efficiently on a qwerty style keyboard
than on a
Braille keyboard, despite having used the latter ever since I
can
remember.
I hope this clarified things for you.

I think things will have come to a pretty pass when HW feels it
necessary
to
emulate Microsoft in this respect. Some of us were taught
grammar in
school. While I wouldn't use things like XL, I respect its
possible
inclusion as a useful tool which would potentially enhance the
functionality
of the BN family. However, I see such a thing as a grammar
check as a
lowering of standards.

This is Jospeh. At this point, the answer is no. Good
suggestion,
though.
P.S. The only way of using grammar check is by converting the
document
to
Microsoft Word *.doc file, open it with Microsoft Word and check
it
that
way. Then you have to convert it back to its original format.

Hi Everybody,

I am in the process of transplanting from a BrailleNote running
4.01 to
an
mPower and am curious, does the BrailleNote have a grammar check
yet?
If
not, consider it a suggestion for a future release. Thanks in
advance
for
any responses.
