Hi Ray,
It's possible that you could be plugging the small end of the USB
cable into the wrong port on the mPower. The client port, (the
smallest USB port), is located just above the SD card slot, between
the power jack and the compact flash slot. The other two USB ports
are located on the other side of the serial port and are only meant
to connect to thumb drives, hard drives, printers, and other USB peripherals.
I don't know how to help with your other two problems, but I hope
this helps with the USB thing.
Sarah

Subject: [Braillenote] Three Problems That I Need Help With
Hi All:
My wife and I need your help and expertise with three problems.
1. My wife just received her new Voice Note M-Power running
Keysoft 7. She
had a Voice Note classic running Keysoft 6.11. Since she had the
Voice
Note, she did not send her classic in for a transplant, she just
bought a
new unit per the advice of our Humanware distributor. She tried
copying all
of her keyword files, NOT THE DATABASES, over to a Compact Flash
card from
the classic, then inserting the Flash card into the M-Power to
copy the
files from the card to the M-Power. The classic copied the files
onto the
flash card no problem. The M-Power wouldn't recognize the flash
card. It
seems, based on our trying several compact flash cards that any
card which
has been used in the Voice Note classic won't be recognized by
the M-Power.
Does the classic do something to the flash cards that causes
this? What, if
anything can be done about it? I tried a normal reset on the
M-Power, the
JKL reset and the FDS reset and it didn't fix this problem.
2. We tried hooking my wife's new Voice Note M-Power up to our
PC using
Active Sync via USB connection. When we plugged the small end of
her USB
cable into the M-Power, plugged the larger end into the PC and
tried
connecting to Active Sync via USB, we got the sound that says it
couldn't
connect. Active Sync version is 3.8 and it is set to allow USB
connections.
We found, however, that the small end of the USB cable feels
loose on the
M-Power no matter which way we plug it in; it wobbles around. In
comparison, the large end in the PC is tight and doesn't wobble.
Therefore,
we think it's possible that the USB cable isn't making a
connection on the
M-Power. Is there something we have to do with either a new
cable or the
USB host ports on the M-Power before using them for the first
time?
3. As I have reported to you earlier, my Braille note M-Power
running
Keysoft 6.2 won't properly sync contact data from Microsoft
Outlook XP to my
Address List. Again, what happens is that the database records
are created
in the address list but no data is populated in them. I'm
running Norton
Internet Security with Personal Firewall turned on. I'm also
running
Windows XP Service Pack 2 and when I check Windows Firewall, it
is set to
allow exceptions and has keysync marked as an exception. I'm
using the PC
Keysync for Keysoft 6.2, and the M-Power which I am borrowing is
running
6.2. We haven't tried my wife's Voice Note running Keysoft 7
yet; we want
to get mine working first. Again, I'm running Active Sync 3.8.
Could there
be something in Norton Internet Security or Windows Firewall that
is
blocking Keysync when it tries copying Outlook contact data to
the address
list? I did try syncing after turning Personal Firewall off in
Norton
Internet Security and it still didn't work. Also, I am
connecting to Active
Sync via serial. Is there any settting in Outlook I need to
check?
Thanks, any help on these problems will be appreciated. We plan
to call
Tech Support about them on Monday but if we can get help from the
mass of
brain power on this list this weekend, that would be appreciated.
