This is Joseph. There is a utility called Scandisk. It checks for the
integrity of a storage device. Every time a computer boots, Scandisk (more
specifically, CheckDisk utilty) checks for the errors on the storage
defice(s). Same thing here. You don't have to worry about it since you have
Classic unit, but Jonathan Mosen just posted that PK machines (I'm not sure
whether it applies to mPower as well) runs Scandisk utility to check the CF
card for errors. I hope this information may help you.

Why should you take the cards out before switching on?
I have not been doing that with my compact flash card.
