Linda,

My husband has the mPower and I have recently acquired the PK! <SMILE>

The mPower (Mobile Power) does have a few features that are not
available to the PK or Classic and it does specifically give you a
choice of speech synthesizer, KeyNote or Eloquence. For fast and longer
listening, Eloquence is my preferred option, but KeyNote is fine and I
still handle this at a fair pace on the PK. The big advantage for me of
the PK is that I have problems in holding and carrying weights and PK
certainly scores there! In addition, its keyboard is quieter than the
mPower. the PK is only available with an 18 cell Braille display, where
the mPower is 18 or 32, but some prefer to read from a shorter display
anyway. I suggest you try to get the chance to see both before
committing yourself. You may find it hard to write correctly on the PK
at the beginning, if you're used to a more conventional Perkins-type
keyboard as the dots 1 and 4 are angled and also the spacebars at the
bottom, so you have to get used to the position before you're
comfortable. This doesn't take too long though and you soon find you're
flying along!

The mPower has more ports, memory and drive space so I guess, in the
longer term, this model may well go further than the PK, but I
understand it's HW's intention to support upgrades for both of these
products and they have lots of good things in mind.

Yes, the best thing you can do is to try to get yourself a demo or two
or, better still, find someone local to yourself who can let you have a
little more "hands on" experience. You'll then be able to choose what
is right for you!

I hope this helps and that you'll be able to make your choice very soon.

Subject: [Braillenote] PK or MPower

I am trying to decide between the MPower and the PK. I have seen both
units.

I would be interested in hearing what features about each of these units
led
to your decision to choose one over the other. Also, are there any
features
that were an unexpected pleasant surprise (example transferring data was

much easier than you thought). Conversely, what, if any, features have
you
been unhappy about with the unit?

This is more subjective than objective, which unit do you think has more

possibilities for the future?

Thank you.
