Yes a way to sort, and a nicer way to work with directories would be nice
too. The way it works now I find it a bit on the clunky side at least for
me.

There's no way to do that now with the current file manager, which is one 
reason that the file manager needs a major overhaul. We also need the 
ability to open files of any supported type from within the file manager, 
and we need a robust system-wide file search facility.

I could go on, but I won't, as I've made these points before.
