Hi Rusty,

The problem with off the shelf GPS solutions is that they were developed
for drivers.  You can use TELLME or MAPQUEST to get driving directions,
but a blind traveler needs more info than that.  He or she can't read
street signs, see arrows painted on the street, etc.  The blind oriented
systems give you a lot more detail than the off the shelf systems.
Again, whether or not they are worth the money is a personal decision.
