Jose, yes, you can do DSL with 5.1. These may be a little out of
order, but you can just follow the prompts. Remember that you
won't need to put your name and address in, because it is set up
the same as you have it now with dial up.
When setting up any new account information, do the following:
1. From the Main Menu, press E, S, D, A. You will see "entry
list of Directory of Email Accounts". Press Enter.
2. "Account Name" is the first field. Put anything here that
will help you identify it and press Enter.
3. "Device to use" is next. If you are using dial up, you can
just press Enter. However, if it is an ethernet card, press dots
3-4 chord until you see "ethernet network connection". (note:
You will need an Ethernet Card (type Socket Low Power Ethernet
(LPE) EA2902-139, CF+ R/LP - E) - which has a ruggedized, i.e.
connected, cable.
You will also need access to a working ethernet computer
network, via a network capable PC, server, hub/switch/router or
DSL .)modem.
When configuring the connection, use these specific settings:
At the "Device to Use?" prompt, select Ethernet Network.
At the "Obtain an IP address automatically?" setting, ensure it
is set to yes, unless the network uses static IP addresses as in
scenarios a and b below, where it is necessary to enter the IP
address manually. When set to Yes, this setting allows the
network to fill in the rest of the fields automatically except
the proxy server fields. You can press Enter here.
4. "User Name" is the next field. Put the first part of your
e-mail address in, up to the "at" part. Press Enter.
5. "Password" is the next field. If your password includes
numbers, put them in lower case. Press Enter.
6. "Your e-mail address" is the next field, and the whole
e-mail address is needed. If there are numbers, lower case
numbers are required. Press Enter.
7. "pop server" add this entry and press Enter.
8. "Smtp server" put this in and press Enter.
9. "Smtp authentication required"? This is set to "no" but
most ISP's require them. Press Y for yes and press Enter.
10. Press dot 2-6 chord to add the record.
