The speed you get depends on what data service you're using.

If you use the GPRS, also called EDGE or EDVO on other services, it's pretty
fast. I don't know how to test the speed of my connection with the BN but
it's fast.

You can also use a dialup style connection if you pay for something called,
"CSD" which means "circuit swithed data." This plan, aledgedly only about
$4.00 per month, will allow you to use your phone as a dialup modem and you
can use a standard dialup call.
