Hi Jose:
Have you used NLS before? I am assuming not, but I hate to make
assumptions.
web site: www.loc.gov/nls/braille
If you have not added this site to your favorites, I would wait
until finding the "Search the Online Catalog". From then on, it
will open at that point. Let's say that you add it to your
favorites at that point.
1. When you open the NLS site, you will be at the "search the
online catalog section."
2. Press space bar about nine times until you see "title".
3. You can either write in your title, or press dots 4-6 chord
until you see "KeyWord.
4. If you have chosen KeyWord, because you know the book
number, write the numbers in lower case.
5. Press dots 4-6 chord until you see "search".
6. Press Enter.
7. Press Space until you see http.
8. Press Enter. At this point, you will log in.
9. When you see "log in" the first time, press Space until you
see "real braille".
10. Press Space once more to enter your user name, which is
the one given to you by NLS.
11. Press Space again to write in your password.
12. You'll hear beeps, and when you hear http again, press S
chord.
13. Press Backspace at the "folder name" prompt, and make sure
you're in the "drive list" prompt.
14. When you are asked to write the book name, write it in
Computer Braille and add the brf extension.
15. Press Enter.
16. It should pause before saying "saved".
17. If the book is in more than one volume, press B with Enter
to go back a page.
18. You'll be at the next volume location. Press Space to get
to the next http prompt. Save by pressing S chord.
(Note: If a book is in several volumes, you may be blocked out
of the site and have to go back in.)
