Hi Brian,
I attended a demonstration of the M Power and asked and they do clean the
braille display before installing it in the M Power. They also said if it
needs repairs you have to pay for the repairs before installation in the M
Power because once installed you are given a years warranty.

I understand the new displays on the Mpower are a little quieter
than the older ones and maybe a bit crisper to read, but seems
the consensus of the list is there is no problem with
transplanted displays.
I'm not sure if when you send your unit in for transplantation if
they check over and clean the Braille display while they are
working on it or not.
You may wish to ask Humanware about this.
