Occasionally,it is convenient to print something directly from the BN rather
than uploading to the PC to be printed. I did this regularly from the BN
classic to the parallel port on my printer.
The Empower Transplant, of course, does not have the parallel port, but my
printer (Epson Color Stylus 880) does have a USB port which is usually
connected to the PC. When I connect either of the BN host USB ports to the
USB port on the printer the BN will say "printer ready," and when
disconnected will "say "printer removed;" so there is some kind of
communication. When I try to print a document, however, after a slight
pause it will indicate that the printing is complete, but no response from
the printer.
The printer prints from the PC, so it's not a matter of ink or paper out. I
have tried different printer types in the setup menu with no luck. I talked
with a very patient tech support person and we tried all the resets, etc.
Has anyone else had this experience and found any solutions?
Oh yes, I had the same results with a Dell printer, but I wasn't expecting
much from that.
As mentioned, the Epson does have a parallel port, but after pricing the
recommended Inside Out Networks Edgeport /421 USB-to-parallel adapter, I
decided against that approach (it cost more than twice as much as the
printer).
Any suggestions or recommendations will be appreciated--I think.
