Kathleen,
There are many products around these days which certainly totally blind
people cannot use at all, or can only use in a limited fashion. I have
chosen a number because, although I cannot use them fully, I get something
from them which is useful to me. Yes, it's frustrating, sometimes really
annoying. I believe we live in a seeing and a hearing world. Those of us
who have more than one disability know that it gets harder as disability
increases. There's no way out though. We either need to stay focussed on
the things we have and can do and be glad or go on and on about the things
we do not have and do not want and cannot use. We end up then really not
getting full enjoyment from what we have.
I for one certainly take your comments seriously and would hope that, if at
all possible, HW would include some kind of vibrator as an alternative alarm
in the unit. Nevertheless, you have said these things a number of times and
now, particularly in the light of the recent loss of Dean and therefore HW's
increased difficulties even in monitoring this list, I now believe it's
right we looked at all the positive things and concentrated on helping one
another to the full. This means we need to stay positively focussed.
I hope you can receive this in the spirit in which it is written and know
that we're all here to support you in your needs and to try to work out all
ways we can to assist you when Braille is your only option. Thank God you
have Braille. Without it you'd be very lost! Thanks HW for all that we
have in our BN's and for the difference they have made to our lives!

I guess itis just as I figured. Even though there are quite a few BN users
who are deaf-blind, it doesn't seem to matter. Implicitly, you are
sugtgesting we invest in another part! Did you consider we already pay for
featurs we cannot use, such as FM radio and Media Player?
(I've asked before: WHY CALL THIS A "BRAILLEnote" IF ALL YOU WaNT IS
SOUND?
(A highly discouraged consumer))
