Hi Paul,

   I think that error message is from KeySync, and usually means that the 
BrailleNote can't talk to the program running on the PC.  I usually get it 
when I'm not running KeySync on the PC, or have unplugged the USB cable or 
something.

activeSync is a MicroSoft program that allows file synchronization - but 
you shouldn't tick any of the options to synchronize email or whatever. 
KeySync is a Humanware program that allows email and calendar information 
to be synchronized.

So I'd check that KeySync is running first of all, and make sure you can 
reach your BrailleNote through the PC file system, which means that 
activeSync is working ok.
