This is Jospeh. If I have spun controversy here, I would like to apologize.
Someone made a suggestion of having a new file system, and that was what I
have ment to respond.

Subject: [BrailleNote] a word on file systems - overview and technical

Hi all,

No, Joseph, we don't want a different file format. We want a different file
system of navigating between and among directories and files. What I would
like, because I am accustomed to such things is the ability to navigate
freely between directories, subdirectories and files in all these places. I
would like to be able to press enter on a given file when in the menu and be
taken to the word processor. I don't mind using computer braille to write my
file and directory names. I would love it if one could choose which way to
have one's files displayed all the time. Me, I want directory mode all the
time, and the ability to move up and down the tree easily. Something like
My Computer would be great! No, I don't, most definitely don't want a "tree
view" I hate them! But something like MY Computer that listed directories
then files underneath would be absolutely wonderful!

Now, I realize that there are folks who use the BN and who don't want a full
path system of files and directories. One should be able to press a space-t
and toggle between these modes, but the mode would stay the same even if you
were in the / directory. The folder mode would work as it does now. Some
people like that, and they wouldn't dream of creating subdirs. They should
be accommodated.

That's what we're talking about here, not format, but navigation.

Ann P.
