This is Joseph.
The current capacity for SD card is about 2 GB (The 8 GB capacity you were
talking about might be related to a CF card.). Yes, you can use any card,
but it is recommended that you use cards with 512 MB or less capacity for
upgrading. The formatting utilty can be used with any cards, whether you are
upgradijng or not. (I don't exactly know the underlying technical
informaiton behind this utility.) I hope this informaiton may help you.

Subject: [Braillenote] SD card questions

I have a couple questions about the use of SD cards on the mPowered note
takers.
First, is there any size limitation for cards we can use, other than the
512 MB limit for cards used to do updates? I've read about SD cards of 8
Gig and wondered if these would work.
I asked this next question once before several weeks ago and never received
a response.
Is it necessary or recommended to use the built in SD card formatting option
with cards that are only to be used for file storage or is this formatting
step only needed for cards used to perform updates with?
Thank you
Richard Ehrler
