Hi Kathy,
Which phone are you using? Do you know whether it is still available?
My wife is at guidedog school where she is getting a new dog. Her M-power
couldn't work with their wireless network. We think it has a firewall on it
which prevents her from downloading her Email directly to the M-power. I
managed to get dial up to work with my ISP. With their help, I found a
local number she could dial into so she could receive her Email where she
is. She wasn't able to send or receive Email for a week and a half till I
figured out how to get dial up to work properly with the M-power. It is
quite impressive really! I like how one is prompted after downloading
whether they wish to disconnect or not. This prompt doesn't show when one
is on DSL. I actually listened to an audio stream with dial up. It only
cut out once which was impressive!
We are toying with the idea of adding a third phone to our plan which would
be used when downloading Email on the go. If she had such a phone, she
would have been able to send and receive Email from day one. We'd continue
to use our 4650 accessible phones when making calls but the third phone for
Email especially when out of range of wireless networks or the network is
not useable as it is presently. They don't seem to be open to putting in a
student wireless network. They may have ethernet available in the rooms but
we don't have the socket ethernet cable. The only other problem with this
idea is we use DSL all the time while we are home so the only time we'd use
the third phone is when we are on the go! When on the go, if a wireless
network is available and one can use it, I'd rather use the wireless
network. I'd appreciate any thoughts on this matter. We are on Verizon.
Please feel free to write privately if you wish.

Jim, My infrared phone from Verizon works quite nicely with the mPower. I
use dial up to earthlink, no problem whatsoever, except having to reset
occasionally, but I have to do that here at home occasionally also.

Hi John,
My wife and I couldn't get our LG VX4500 phones to work with the
classic and
thus far the M-power. The people at Verizon insists that we need
their
software in order for the M-power to work either on their system
or dialing
into another ISP. Every time I plugged the cable into the
M-power, it gave
me a "card not recognized message". I doubt there is a work
around. Those
same cables are too big to fit into my new 4650. I'm wondering
whether
there are any phones which can work with the M-power which has a
usb cable
on one end and the proper fitting for a phone on the other end?
If not,
could we conclude that the only way to connect the M-power to a
wireless
phone is through Bluetooth?
Thanks for your help!
