Another possibility for avoiding the reset music without creating new files would be to buy a 3.5mm "phone plug" at somewhere like Radio Shack and just leave it plugged into the BN or VN. That would disable the speaker for as long as it is plugged in. The plug is intended to be attached to a cord (like headphones) but it could just be used as a blank or "dummy" plug.

Jonathan:

I'm getting the idea you wrote the reset music. I have to say it's lovely and oh, so dramatic. A bit too dramatic in the middle of a meeting, though, which is usually just about when my BrailleNote usually decides it wants my attention. And the more big wigs there are in the meeting room, the more likely my BrailleNote is to throw a tantrum.

But, of course, I love my BrailleNote.

Hi Richard. Here is a work-around for your reset music issue, even though
it pains me deeply that you don't like it <smile>.

If a folder called Windows doesn't exist on your flash disk, create one.
Using a sound editor, make a wav file called startup.wav. It can have a
tiny beep sound, nothing at all, or anything you like. Put startup.wav in
your Windows folder on the flash disk, and do a reset. KeySoft will tell
you that system files have been updated, and to perform a reset. The
second time you reset, your new reset sound will be working.
