Hi Ann,
It is my hope that the Braillenote and Voicenote units including calssics will become Daisy players for the nls books when they come out. I don't know what hw will be doing regarding this issue, but that is a dream of mine.

Hi all,

Mary, get real! You won't fall over in a dead faint if you write
the
word PacMate. I agree with your assessment. I believe that
DAISY
support is one of the things slated for the next upgrade, or I
hope
that it is. I think that staying with the BrailleNote and
Humanware
may benefit us in the long run. Humanware is working with LOC on
their new player for the new DAISY books, and I think that it
would be
totally cool if a BrailleNote could work as a NLS player, though
this
might not be possible.

In any case, the Humanware folks are going to have to implement
DAISY
soon because it is becoming the standard for all etexts and
possibly
audio books as well.

As for the disadvantages of the PacMate, yes, there are many, but
it
has its place. It is a good product, and the things that is so
wonderful is that we do have choice. That makes us truly
independent.

Ann P.
