Dear HumanWare Staff,
I would like to make a suggestion regarding the voltage in the CompactFlash
slot and the PCMCIA slot. I would like to see someway of making the voltage not
just limited to a 3.3 voltage card, I would also like to see support for cards
that require 5 volts. The reason this is an important piece that needs to be
implemented is, it makes the user have a broader choice when it comes to
choosing a card they desire. And also for the users who had 5 volts cards, they
were able to use it with their BrailleNote Classics and PK, but when they
purchased the mPower or got a transplant, they were no longer able to use it,
it esssentially became useless. I feel this isn't something that should of been
done, when products get upgraded features should be improved, not taken out.
This is a restrictionn from purchasing larger storage devices, because of the
voltage limitation. It is hahrd enough to purchase a piece of equipment that
cost 6,000 dollars and find you have a very small window of devices that will
work with it.
I hope this is something that can be implemented, even if it means that users
who would like this functionality must ship their unit back to Concord or New
Zealand to take advantage of higher level of capacity cards.
Kevin
