Much obliged. Size is an important consideration, but I think the MPower
is certainly manageable and not that horribly huge, actually.
Yes, I wasn't impressed at all with the PK's keyboard, but I know folks who
have gotten used to it, certainly.

Hi,
I have had my mPower since February. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!!!! It is fast,
streams audio, has a better speaker than the PK, has a more comfortable
keyboard, has USB host ports, has both an SD and PCMCIA slots, has an
external microphone jack, supports playlists, and can have a full 32 cell
Braille display. I have heard of more software problems with the PK than
with the classic or mPower, and I would imagine it is pretty slow.
The advantages (I am speaking from assumption and from using a PK for
about five minutes): basically fits in a pocket, has a joystick (I would
prefer two joysticks over the four thumbkeys), still has bluetooth, and
can play music in the background, though only one track at a time.
I apologize to anyone who has a PK; I know the keyboard is preference, not
comfort for all, and that some of what I have said may not be accurate. I
did my best. The best way I could put it is an mPower is like getting a
Dell PDA, while the PK is like picking one up at a local store for not
much money. They both work on the same principles, yet one can do a lot
more than the other. As mentioned, the main physical difference in the
two (aside from ports and jacks) is the size, so consider where you will
be using your unit and how much you will travel with it.

Subject: [Braillenote] PK Or MPower?
While the PK is very appealing, due to its small size, I
hear from several
MPowere owners that the latter has significantly longer battery
life, much
more flash memory, is more powerful in general, and isn't that
huge to
carry around. What would folks recommend for a blind radio
reporter to
carry around, given the constsraints of the PK? I would also use
the unit
with GPS, of course. Another advantage is that I could read and
write
Spanish documents with the MPower, I'm told, and that this
wouldn't be
possible with the PK.
Thanks for any comments/recommendations.
