Hi there,
Well, I think quieter writing has to be an advantage in many situations.
Oh, and if you really like writing in bed, though you can accomplish this
with both the PK and mPower, I think the PK is much easier! If you don't
get on with the thumb keys of the mPower that are placed at the front of the
machine, perhaps because you have dexterity/co-ordination is not good, then
you may find the navigation buttons of the PK to be easier to locate and
use. I just wish they didn't make such a "clicking noise". (When recording
from my reading, I use the mPower to save this clicking noise as I don't
like the Braille to advance on its own.)
Some people also find it an easier thing to read a shorter Braille display
so the PK, with only an 18 cell line, may be easier than an mPower 32 for
you; though many prefer the longer line.
I think the routing buttons are easier to feel and locate on the PK, though
I can manage either quite happily myself.
I hope this may help a little.

Hello Daveed:
I don't know why you couldn't do Spanish and things like that on the pk.
You are correct in saying it doesn't have the memory, though I generally
put information on my compact flash card, anyway. If you are using a
Gps, the size of the pk is wonderful. With the pk, the battery doesn't
need calibrating. If you are planning to emboss or print, an mPower is
what you'd want. If you want the radio, or mp 3's, you'd want the
mPower. I guess it really depends on what you want to do. I'll be
interested in your choice.

Subject: [Braillenote] PK Or MPower?
While the PK is very appealing, due to its small size, I
hear from several
MPowere owners that the latter has significantly longer battery
life, much
more flash memory, is more powerful in general, and isn't that
huge to
carry around. What would folks recommend for a blind radio
reporter to
carry around, given the constsraints of the PK? I would also use
the unit
with GPS, of course. Another advantage is that I could read and
write
Spanish documents with the MPower, I'm told, and that this
wouldn't be
possible with the PK.
Thanks for any comments/recommendations.
