Andrew, that is so ... except if a file has a dot extension on it, it may not show, unless you look from the directory.

or go to Word Processor, Open a Document, then when you've got to

"Document to open?" prompt, press SPACE for a list of documents

folder you've selected, and SPACE down the list until you've
found the
right one.  Then hit ENTER to open the document.
