Hi Phil:

When configuring a new email account or modifying an existing one, you now have the ability to change the POP and SMTP ports that the email client uses to connect to email servers in order to send and receive email. This is handy because many Internet Service Providers are choosing not to use the standard ports for sending and receiving email due to security concerns. In most cases, these settings won't need to be changed from their defaults, unless instructed by your network administrator. When you create an email account, right after the authentication option, the pop port is presented. If you need to change this, just type over the default. The same holds true for the smtp port. You do need to know the port number which you should be able to get from your provider.

As far as sending E-mail without receiving, if you are using the BT, you can press 123456 chord. You will get the "there are xxx to send ... send now?" Just press Y for yes. Hmmm! did that make sense?

Subject: [Braillenote] 2 email related questions

I know I have seen both of these items somewhere, but I must be
having a
senior moment, or is it a senior month. I need to change the
smtp port for
outgoing email on my MPower, but I can't find the option now. s
secondly, how do I send out mail without having to receive any?
I know it has to be ther somewhere, and I looked through the
manual but
didn't find my answers.

Many thanks
phil
