Subject: [Braillenote] returning member question about PDF files
Hello Everyone,
I have been a member of this list previously. My name is Lisa.
I teach Braille in Guam with the possibility of moving to Saipan.
I have a Braillenote BT 18 running Keysoft 6.11. I do not have a
computer.
I would like to know how I can access PDF files using the
Braillenote. I realize the Braillenote will not allow the user
to open these types of files. Is it possible to find a Web site
that will convert these files for free from PDF to text?
After conducting several Google searches the results I have
discovered are the following:
1. Special software has to be loaded onto the Braillenote which
I realize is not possible for the Braillenote to handle.
2. The PDF document has to be scanned in why I'm not sure.
3. The special software that is to be downloaded has to be
purchased. I see no point in purchasing software that the
Braillenote will not be able to handle.
4. Conversion appears not to be an option without the special
software.
Any ideas? Thank you! This is for a job application. I have
spoken with the HR staff and converting the document to HTML
format is not a possibility for security reasons. I also
suggested having the document emailed to me as Microsoft Word
files and that's not an option because of security reasons.
I'm finding the problem with PDF file inaccessibility increasing.
Thanks for your time and your assistance. I look forward to
receiving responses.
Lisa
