Hello to all,
Below is a little more info on the TechTalk training on Monday, July 10 for
Stacey and to those who are interested about the Trekker GPS, and Jim
mentioned in his previous message. Hopefully this is not too off topic on
this list. I'm just not sure if it would be possible to attend this event
with a BrailleNote considering what it says below: "it is best to be running
Windows on a PC and using Internet Explorer version 6." In any case, if you
can't participate for whatever reason and would like to contact them to find
out more about it, the info with phone numbers are at the end:

Ease of travel has long been a challenge for both the blind and those with
partial vision. Now, however, the Trekker, a small hand-held device using
GPS and digital maps, is making it possible for users to pinpoint exactly
where they are anywhere in the world, learn about area attractions, and find
out how to get to specific destinations. These features provide users
greater freedom and increased confidence in their ability to travel near or
far, for business or pleasure. It also helps them access and enjoy the most
valuable and interesting opportunities their surroundings have to offer.
Following the formal presentation, Gerry Leary will answer questions from
the virtual audience. Blind since birth, Gerry has experienced first-hand
the same difficulties and frustrations other blind individuals encounter
negotiating their environment. He is anxious to share the tremendous impact
the Trekker is having on his daily and vocational life. So, here is another
opportunity to learn from a knowledgeable blind user.
To attend the event, it is best to be running Windows on a PC and using
Internet Explorer version 6. Your sound card should be working. If you have
a working microphone you can interact audibly with Gerry and the audience o
or else you can use the text chat window.
