Jonatha and list, especially people who expreienced this issue,
Jonathan, there are some people (two or three at least) that had difficulty
upgrading from 7.0 to 7.01. Even though if these people had tried to upgrade
after formatting the SD card(s) in question (whether using format command on
the PC or using Prepare SD card utility). For folks who had upgraded
successfully: could yo give us the exact steps to perform from beginning to
end please? Rose, after you've performed Reset with dots 4-6, press dots 1-2
only, then press Reset with dots 4-5.

OK, I have tried this procedure countless times over the past few days in
two different units and no go on either of them--and as I have stated
before, until now I have never had trouble with a BN upgrade, or a Jaws
upgrade or other upgrades.

This is not my fault, except as mentioned in a message earlier, that I think
something went awry with my installation of 7.0 and the boot loader.

I cannot take time to phone until at the earliest next Friday and then my
time is so limited that I could not spend much time, I sure hope I don't
have to send you both my units because having one of them for eight weeks
last winter was a very long time to wait.

My issues could be the downloading issue, I have only downloaded one book
from Bookshare in the past three months using the Braillenote but who knows
when I may want or need to do so with more regularity, and the alarm issue,
which is slightly different than some of the users have but it has been
persistent for about five years now. I keep bringing it up, the alarm that
never shuts up no matter what key combinations are used on two different
units I might add.

If I sound upset it is because the below message makes me feel like maybe I
just cannot follow directions, and that isn't the case. I am a self-taught
user of technology, I can read and follow directions, but I can't make them
work if something is wrong.

Hi Joseph and all. Firstly, I am only aware of one SAID card error reported
to this list regarding the 7.01 update. It may be a hardware issue, it is
difficult to say. However HumanWare technical support will be happy to
assist.

Regarding the steps to take for the 7.01 upgrade, and I am talking
specifically about BrailleNote and VoiceNote mPower, all a current 7.0 user
has to do is to copy the nk.bin file on to an SAID card that is less than
512 MB and formatted in FAT 16. We provide a utility to prepare the SAID
card if the card is not formatted for FAT 16. The only file that needs to
be on this card is nk.bin. Then perform a 4-5 or JK reset and the upgrade
begins automatically. No product key or boot loader is required if you are
already running 7.0. I can tell you I've done hundreds of these with
success every time.

Jonathan
