Brian, if you already have a unit, you unfortunately need to send it to
RFB&D to have the key put in.  

Whatever I may think about the proprietary nature of this stuff, it is done
because of copyright agreements and this is the issue with the BN and RFB&D
books.  NLS is using another proprietary format, also because of what I feel
is paranoia and a need to be everything to everyone.  Remember all of the
download problems and the temporary shutdown of Web Braille earlier this
year; and we were told at the ACB convention that someone was downloading a
thousand titles a day or something crazy like that.  In that case, deal with
the person doing it.  Don't penalize those who want to download the material
legally, however they choose to download it.
