That's a brilliant point! I learned braille music many years ago, but it's not something that many people teach themselves mostly because it's not worth the time it takes, but if there were speech confirmation, I think that that would promote the learning of it because people could do it at their own convenience. Michelle, I would encourage you to bring this point up to various Braille music associations and companies, maybe Dancing Dots? I know there are others, and encourage them to think about it and perhaps lend their support to having the option developed. There are fewer and fewer Braille music readers out there, and anything we can do to increase the number would be terrific! Again, terrific idea and great application! Christine

Hi Listers. I want to get your opinion of the idea of incorporating the Braille music code as an extra into a future upgrade, rather like the linguistics software was; meaning, that not everybody has to have it on their BN but only those who want or need it. I am studying music at a tertiary institution and use Sibelius and one means of doing my theory. However, sometimes, I need to use my BrailleNote for taking notes and in these instances, music and text can be intermixed. I have asked Ramona Mandy about this problem and she says it is possible to enter Braille music on the BN and emboss it, but not to print it. This means, of course, that if one has a Braille display, it's okay; one can understand what one ahs written, but if the display is not working properly, or one is relying chiefly on speech feedback, the BN, not having the Braille music code as part of it's Braille choices, will speak out perfect nonsense. Every time there is an upgrade, I wait with bated breath to see if my request, which I have made several times to the powers that be, has materialized, but not yet. Don't get me wrong, I am more impressed than ever with the new upgrade, particularly the Daisy player, and can't wait to test it out, once I get my Classic upgraded to an Mpower. However, I think there are a number of BN users who are doing music who would appreciate this development. Any opinions would be welcome. Cheers!
