Hi all,
Any access equipment must be fit to its user. The PacMate is a fine
machine, it is, however, designed to be used by those who want open
access to off-the-shelf programs, are willing and able to install and
maintain such programs, and for those whose learning style is visual
in nature and who can understand and work well with the Windows
environment. The BrailleNote is designed for a user who wants to do
things in a timely way, is not interested in experimentation, is
looking for a menu/command driven system, learns best with text and
verbal cues.
Nothing wrong with either product. It's the user that matters.
As for Jonathan's hmmmmm, defection, yes, Rhonda, it would have been
nicer to hear it from him. I don't want to speculate on the reasons
behind his transfer, except that all the reasons I've thought about
have been cited. Well, God bless him. Life sometimes makes us do odd
things and it isn't clear to others just why. However, Jonathan seems
to be a level-headed guy, so his reasons must be cogent.
