Hello Rose,
I use the Braillemote for e-mail and I receive anywhere from 100
to 400 e-mails a day.
What I do is when I have downloaded my e-mail, I go through and
mark specific e-mails and I move them to a folder such as Robert
for personal e-mails and I have named other folders for the
specific listservs I am on. So, when I get e-mail from those
lists, I move them to that folder for reading at a later time.
You may want to try this and see how it goes. I am not saying it
is for you, but I find the keymail program much faster and easier
then using my computer.
Hth,
Robert

I work sometimes nearly 50 hours a week, I really do need to
filter my
messages so that some of them can e read at a later time.

Hi all,
I've had no real difficulty with the email in the bn. I use the
vnqt mpower
and do not have a pc. I find the keymail program easy to use and
very
straight forward. I feel the same way about keysoft as a whole.

I am not Paul but I developed quite a dislike for the e-mail
program last
May when my hard drive crashed and I had to use the BN to collect
300-400
messages a day. It collected them just fine but, I am used to
Outlook where
I can set filters so that the BN messages end up in their own
box, the Jaws
messages in their box and my personal messages in their own box.
Trying to
deal with this amount of mail in one inbox and find the messages
that it was
most important I answer was a time-consuming, and labor intensive
process.
It took me nearly five hours a day to read e-mail instead of the
approximate
one hour I normally would spend on the computer.
I hope never to have to use the BN as my only e-mail connection
again. I
don't mind sending a message with it occasionally and getting
back say 10-20
messages but it just can't be efficient dealing with hundreds of
messages
all stuck in one box.
Then there is the HTML issue that has been discussed on this list
many
times.
I am so glad I don't have to depend on the BN for all my e-mail
needs.

Hi Paul,
I'm not here to defend HW, but I'd like to know, what,
specifically, is not
reliable about the email program? I've been doing mostly all my
email on it
for months now, with very few problems. One that I can remember
got blamed
on the BN, and was, in fact, a problem with my ISP. So, I'd say
that, while
their email is fiddly, it is relatively reliable. Well, once in
a
very long
while, I'll lose a message that I've written. That what you
mean?

I don't think I'd switch either. If HW could just rewrite the
email program
so it is reliable, I'd be the happiest of campers<grin>.

The PacMate is wider and heavier. From what I remember, you have
to take it
out of the case to use it, unlike the BrailleNote where you can
just use it
right in the case. I'm pretty happy with my MPower and wouldn't
even think
of switching.

Guess he'll be carrying a Pacmate wherever he goes rather than an
MPower
now. I'm curious. Is the Pacmate about the same size as the
MPower?

In defending the Braillenote, he often said that the open
platform
approach wasn't as important in this arena, because most users of
this
kind of product also have PC's, and use their PDA type product
for
directed applications, such as Email, note taking, etc. I guess
he
changed his tune, but the question is, what does he really
believe? I
also understand, that at least until now, he was not using
Freedom
Scientific products.

You know, What's really sad is that you have to truly question
just how
much confidence you are willing to put in the statements and
opinions of
others when it comes to looking at accesibility products.
This one really shakes it to the core.
