Here is a good strange for you. When I started the upgrade my battery was
at 85%. When it finished and restarted, it was at 100%.

Since we are in Monsoon season here and thunderstorms can and do drop in at
any minute, I made sure I had my battery mostly charged before I started
just in case we should have a power failure. No thunder, no power failure,
thank goodness.

Subject: [Braillenote] power during upgrade

Hi Pam,

losing the AC power shouldn't be a problem during upgrade. The reason we
insist on it being present is that it would be a very bad thing to lose all
power in the middle of upgrading. Even if you lost AC power, the battery
should take up the slack. But if it was possible to start the process
without the AC plugged in, the battery might run out halfway through.

We do try to build in extra safety where possible! Next time I upgrade a
unit I will try pulling the power out halfway through and see what happens -
as I say, it should complete fine. I'll let you know.

regards,

Andy.
