I've used DAISY books for a couple of years now on a Victor
Reader and can explain about their structure.

A DAISY book can have many, like up to six I think, levels of
indexing.

However the indices available depend entirely on what the
recording studio decided to put into the title.

A DAISY book that started out on tape and was just copied to Cd
probably has one level of indexing: Chapter level.

That is, you can select a Chapter from the navigation keys but
not say a Paragraph or sub-chapter.

The book may have a page index and if it does, you can jump to
the beginning of a page by keying its number in after you press
the go to page button.

A magazine like The Reader's Digest typically has four heading
levels:

Section
Article
Item within an article and
Sub-item within an article.

It generally does Not have a Page Index.

A Newspaper would probably be indexed:

Section
E.g. News, Sports, Business, Travel,
Article
And maybe item within an article.

In addition, DAISY books usually have Phrase indexing, and a
phrase is roughly a sentence.

So if you find titles you read, like newspapers or magazines lack
the kind of indexing you would like, ask the producer of the
DAISY title if they can include the kind of index you want.

Happy reading.

Brian
