That is exactly what I am saying. I have never had the need to use outlook--all I can do is read, highlight, delete, and reply to messages. It is useful when my beloved BN is on one of its all-to-frequent excursions to California, but when it is here it is my only email machine. I would love to be able to select all messages in a thread on my BN, and will have to figure it out in Outlook.

Alex. Is that the same thing as grouping all messages by
conversation?
If your way would work just as well, I am all for it. Anything to
read email
faster on the bn.
I am going through 1500 messages today in outlook. It is so much
faster
since they are grouped by conversation to just delete an entire
thread
rather than one message at a time.

That would be really nice. I would also like to see a way to
display all
starts of threads. For example, the BN just hides all messages
with a re:
tag and subject matching that of a message without the re: tag.
That one
message is displayed, and marking it offers the option to mark
all messages
in that thread. This would make things much faster for those on
forums and
mailing lists and such.

Hi listers. I think that HW could do two things that would make
downloading
and reading large amounts of email work very well.
This wouldn't necessitate a rewrite of keymail, just two
utilities.
1. Create a utility that would sort mail either ascending or
descending. It
is well known that with large amounts of email, deleting from the
front of
the list of messages can be very slow; whereas deleting from the
back is
quite fast.
What if we could sort email from newest to oldest? Then, one
could move to
the end of messages where the oldest would start and work
backwards with
quicker deletions.
2. Create a program that one could run after email was already
downloaded
that would filter email based on criteria that the user sets up.
The user would set up message strings i.e. messages to
[EMAIL PROTECTED]
would be moved to the my mail folder.
Messages to the braillenote list would be moved to the braille
note folder.
The filter would work just like any other to where a user could
base the
move on the two, from or subject fields.
The program would be run after mail was downloaded.
The user could use either of these programs if he or she liked,
but if not,
keymail would remain unchanged.
What do you think?
