Hi All,
My pk works slightly differently than Richard described. I have to
press the power button for just a fraction of a second before
pressing the appropriate key on the keyboard to get the unit to come
up in one of these modes. I suspect this is a timing issue.

Greetings,
I don't have the e-mail address for the person at humanware that is
dealing with the manual so I'm sending this to the list figuring
someone with Humanware will take note. No need for any replies to the list.
I was browsing through the manual to see what I've missed, and ran
across the following topic.
My comments are at the end:
1.17.3 Start-up Braille and Speech Mode.
The BrailleNote PK may be forced to start in one of three modes
when it is switched on. You may choose to start with Braille only,
speech only, or both Braille and speech.
This feature is very convenient if, for example, you have
previously been using both Braille and speech, but you are now
attending a meeting and for privacy you wish to start in the Braille only mode.
As you turn on the switch, simply hold down one of the following
key combinations:
Speech only: dot 2;
Braille only: dot 3;
Speech and Braille: both dots 2 and 3.
I was curious, so I tried this.
It doesn't work as written.
However, if you turn the PK off while holding down one of the keys,
or key combinations, then turn it back on holding that same key or
key combination, it works fine.
